Last post of the year

In your opinion, what was the most interesting part of the movie that you watched last Thursday and Friday?

  1. I think our nation is using too much co2 and we should go back to at least natural gas so we can cut co2 tensions in half. Nucleur power should also be reduced to stop dumping in Yucca Mountain. Still the best we can do right now is natrual energy like wind and water. This movie was spot on everything that has to do with energy using that is going on now.

  2. Personally, I thought that the bit about the carbon in the ground was pretty interesting. I had no clue that the little mites took the carbon from the plans and put it in the soil.

  3. What I found to be interesting was how the man was so dedicated and actually putting things into action. There aren't many people out there that are strong enough to change the world with little steps. I also thought the numbers used and needed to reduce the uses was insane! More people need to see this video and have it open their eyes, so we can change the world.

  4. I found that solar energy is not only clean and easy to use. It is also very cost efficient and can even make you money, and will only get better in the near future. That, i find interesting.

  5. the most interesting part of the movie that i watched was when people on probation was putting solar panels into a regular home and how different it has changed these trouble makers mind. whats fascinating is how inexpensive everything is after you put in a investment. also the short story about the narrators dad turning a bad school into one of the best, i wish our school could also be changed like that

  6. What I found interesting was learning about all the different types of energy sources.
Also I found the part about the probation people who were helping install solar panels and how it changed their minds I found that super cool!!

  7. What I found interesting was Cliff Etheredge, who is a cotton and wind farmer in Texas, that organized 500 acre farms which then became one of the world's largest wind farms. Each turbine brings his neighbors lots of money, with minimal interference to the crops on the ground. The success of the wind farms brought back many family members because of more jobs being available with the wind farms.

  8. I found it interesting how much energy the world uses compared to how much energy is available via natural sources. If all of the world's power came from even just wind and solar plants, we could sustain ourselves while creating no carbon footprint and having no effect on the environment.

  10. The part I thought the most interesting was the natural gas pockets in the ground! I never new that that's how it actually work and they shouted it in the video how they would find them. That was cool.

  11. I found it interesting to learn about all the different types of energy that are in the world. Especially when those energy sources are clean, which will help clean up our air, and can help you make money.

  12. I thought it was interesting how much energy and money could be saved if everybody did something simple like change the style of light bulbs they use or paint have roof gardens or put up wind turbines

  13. I found the difference between how much natural energy there is and what energy we use interesting, because there are so many better sources of renewable energy but we still don't utilize the opportunities. It was interesting to see that we could make the switch to completely renewable energy in the future because we don't really have to waste resources like we are right now.

  14. I thought it was interesting how much money could be saved if everyone in the world cared a little more. People think that they cant do anything to affect what happens to the world which is completely untrue.

  15. I thought the most interesting concept in this movie was comparing different types of energy. Nuclear energy has so much more power behind it than fossil fuels, yet could be dangerous if an accident were to occur. Renewable resources are highly efficient in regulating greenhouse gases, but more supporters of solar and wind power are needed to make this process more helpful. The U.S. uses about a quarter of the world's energy currently being used, which is shocking since we definitely don't make up a quarter of the world's population. Energy needs to become more efficient soon, or the environment will pay.

  16. I think it was very interesting to see how much energy we use on a yearly bases and what other options we have besides fossil fuels like solar and wind energy. When we watched this movie it made me think about how much energy I use and what kind of effect we all play on our world!

  17. I thought it was really interesting how much cheaper it would be if people switched simple things in their everyday lives, and how people can be stubborn about it sometimes even if it is cheaper. I also thought it was interesting how many different types of energy there were and the benefits and downfalls of them.

I learned that solar panels are now a viable option for personal power production. I also found it interesting how much energy we need and how much energy is available through clean means.

  19. I didn't have a chance to watch the movie last week, but the Ted Talk with Randy Pausch about really acheiving your childhood dreams was pretty interesting to me. Randy Pausch talked about his childhood dreams and how he went after to acheive them. We often forget how important those childhood dreams were. We either look back and laugh or even maybe have forgotten about those dreams. It's important to know that at one point we believed in certain something and keep believing in it because it keeps us in moving forward in life.

  20. Personally I thought that the most interesting part of the video was how farmers were giving up the crops that they would farm and instead the became the wind turbine farmers. And how they would make more money doing that then actually farming crops, but if they wanted to they could also farm so that's what i thought was kind of interesting.

  25. I thought the most interesting part of the Carbon Nation movie was: the fact that we know causes of global warming and the fact that we have so many ideas to help reduce/slow down the global warming process, yet we seldom see these proposals in action. The concept that there are so many simple and innovative ways to help, yet there are few attempts to help is kind of sad to me.

  26. I thought it was interesting how it showed one guy making a difference, as well as employing those on probation needing a job. I also like how it showed inexpensive alternatives to co2 as well.

  27. I personally found the wind turbines to be the most interesting thing. I've always loved the idea of using wind turbines for power and to see it play out and see the people who actually use them in their daily lives was very interesting.

  28. I thought the most interesting part of Carbon Nation were the wind turbines in Texas and the solar panels. It's amazing that the turbines saved a town and are good for the environment, too. We could plant them in a lot of places.
I thought what the solar panel guy was pretty cool because he employed people on probation and did something good for the environment.

  29. What I thought was the most interesting part of the carbon nation was how that guy hand wind farms . There a way of getting energy without producing many harms. I also thought it was intersting how the wind farm saved the town from everybody leaving . Another intersting part was how that other guy step up solar pannels and his employers were on probation but they were doing good to the environment but working with him.

  31. I didn't watch the movie carbon nation but I did watch the living your childhood dreams movie. I thought it was very inspirational movie. It made me realize that even if your dying you can still reach your dreams. I thought it was very cool that he got to feel what no gravity feels like and that's what he wanted.

  34. The type of energy I would use in my house would by either hydro energy or wind power because we have plenty of wind in water in klamath that could power either the town or just my house. I would even maybe use solar panels because when its not snowing or raining the sun is usually out even if it is cold. My focus would be more on what my town could provide to me to have enough energy in my house.

  35. I would use solar energy to power my house, I would use photovoltaic panels to collect light through out the day and use it for heat and light during the night. Solar energy is a very efficient way to go. It is good for air pollution rather than fossil fuels and better for water pollution rather than nuclear energy. It is also very low content, quiet, abundant and can be used in any climate

  36. The coolest part of the movie, I think, was the wind portion. I think that the fact that so little land is used to create energy. I was also very impressed with how much potential energy there is out there. The sheer VOLUME is enlightening. I can't understand why we aren't making green energy more, because it seems to be a better profit margin from a business viewpoint and a lot less polution from the comsumer viewpoint. I love the idea of gardens on roofs, white roofs, systems that recycle energy, and solar panels. These are wicked and were unconcsionable twenty, thirty years ago.

  37. The part that I thought was the most interesting was about how much cheaper it can be if everyone switched simple things in their daily lives, and how we as people fight changing it, just because humans are naturally afraid of change. The different ways of getting clean energy was very interesting to me too.

  38. the one thing i though that was interesting was the guy who did wind farms. And he helped everyone with them and they did not leave. And how every little thing that we change for the better can make a big difference. Like recycling is one little thing that can make a big impact.

  39. One thing I found interesting was the farmer with the windmills. Those bring in more money than I had originally thought. There is a huge amount of farmers struggling right now to make ends meet and I believe this is a great and eco-friendly way to make some money.

  40. Something that is interesting to me is that this documentary offers solutions to climate changes, and whether you believe in climate change hype, it still offers ideas on how to have a cleaner environment. It shows us how simple changes in our daily life can make a huge impact.
