Scientists want to take this frozen baby mammoth and see if they can clone it. They would take an egg of an elephant and take out its DNA, then inject the DNA of mammoth and in turn a true mammoth would be born. What do you think? Should we bring back extinct animals or let nature be?
There have been people who have had thier pets cloned so they can have the same pet over thier life. Its is like having an identical twin of the original pet. (Counciling for your children?)
Would you have your pet cloned?
I HONESTLY THINK THAT WE SHOULD NOT BRING BACK EXTINCT ANIMALS BY CLONING THEM. THEY DIED FOR A REASON.HOW WOULD YOU CONTROL A MAMMOTH,ONCE IT WOULD GET BIG IT PROBABLY WOULD BECOME DANGEROUS IN SOME WAY,AND WHAT WOULD YOU DO TO STOP IT KILL IT? lETS JUST LEAVE EXTINCT ANIMALS DEAD.
ReplyDeleteFOR CLONING PETS I THINK IN SOME CASES IT WOULD BE OK LIKE FOR YOUR KIDS.TO TRY AND KEEP THEM HAPPY. BUT IF IT WAS FOR YOURSELF THEN NO BECAUSE YOU AND I KNOW THAT THE ORIGINAL IS DEAD. A CLONE CAN COME TO BEING THE SAME AS THE ORIGINAL BUT ITS NOT THE SAME PET.SO JUST LET THEIR FATE BE,DEAD OR ALIVE.

I think if an animal goes extinct we should leave it that way. There's a reason they are gone, and we shouldn't mess with nature. Mammoths might be this horrible and dangerous animal, and if we bring them back we'll have to find a way to deal with them.
ReplyDeleteI don't think people should clone their pets. Not even for their children sake. Death is something everyone needs to learn to deal with. We can't shelter our children like that. Pets aren't even the same when you clone them. They may look the same, but you have to reteach them everything. It's like a clean slate. And if we do start to clone our pets, what's next? Cloning our children or our parents if something ends up happening? It's just not right. Not to me at least.

Scientists are all about doing something that no one else has done. Bringing back a long dead and extinct animal has many desirable aspects such as being able to say we have the power, and also being able to learn and thrive from the studying of the procedure, failure, or success. But truly attempting to re-create a mammoth I think would be seemingly harmless, but if it turn out to be a success the people holding the power to recreate any animal with any remining genes would basically hold the fate of humanity. I don't think we can allow that kind of power to be released on humans. We are simply too greedy and power-driven, I think it could very possibly blow up in our faces.
ReplyDeleteI understand how desirable it is to have the same pet for life. A life-long friend if you will. But half of the power of death is recognizing how much the dead individual meant to us. I think if we were to let our beloved pets thrive for as long as we did we would lose how precious they are to us. We would lose the ability to take in a new pet (the population of which is already so over-excessive) and a new personality and live with them and grow from a new family memeber.
I think for smaller species or animals such as bugs or cats, dogs, sheep, etc. it is an interesting and valid scientific endeavor that can produce beneficial results. I'm not saying that the experiment with the mammoth would not produce beneficial results, but on this level, the cons I think out weigh the pros over a period of time. Its a species we haven't seen in a very long time being put back into nature could have consequences that we are unaware of right now.

i think it would asome if they cloned a mamath to be able to see one in modern times instead of seeing them only in history books as far as the pets being cloned i think more power to them they rount get the same pet no matter what becuase of personality but they'll get the same type of dog wich is the same as just getting a new one so i hounesty dont the issue with cloning pets

ReplyDeleteI think that being able to clone extinct animals would be a very helpful tool in the sciences in order to see how evolution has taken place over the years and to possibly map our own existince more accuretly, but i do not think that cloning should be used for everyday purposes such as getting your pet cloned, or making your little angel look like Brad Pitt.

yes i think that they should try to clone the baby mamoth being able to clone extinct organisms could open endless scientific possiblities mabe even cloning frozen humans.
ReplyDeleteyes i would clone a pet if i could afford it.

I THINK THEY SHOULD BRING BACK EXTINCT ANIMALS IT WOULD BE COOL TO SEE HOW IT WAS IN THE ANCIENT TIME. AND INTERESTING TO LOOK AT

I dont think that we should be cloning animals. I don't think it is right. For example: If they clone a mammoth, then what would happen? It could mate and then make different breeds or if we were to clone to many and couldn't control them, what effect would that have on society. I don't think it would be very smart to do this. On the subject of cloning domesticated animals, I dont think I would like to much because they will most likely have different personality and I don't think I would like that too much. If I cloned my cat and the clone didn't like me or act similar to the other one, I wouldn't want that memory of it.
ReplyDeleteJoey Ames
My opinion is if you want to clone your animals its a little scary to me because if you were that obsessed with that pet than you have problems. I also think that if you clone a pet it wont be the same pet it will just look like it. the pet wont know if they love you or not they will not have memories that the other pet had. And it is a little odd. just get a new pet. I also think that we should not clone the mamoth. There are reason they are extinct and that is how it should stay...
ReplyDeleteKaddee Mueller
I think this sounds kind of sketchy. Because the mammoth is probably extinct for a reason. We shouldn't bring it back after so many years when we don't know what it did or very many things about it. I wouldn't clone my animals because it seems creepy and I wouldn't want to be cloned.
ReplyDeleteLanie Quinowski
Well i think we should try it. We are no longer cavemen anymore, if things do get out of hand with have weapons to take it off the face of the planet. We have really nothing to lose with a little experiment likie that. Also i think that if you want to clone your pet thats chill with me. If i could have the same dog over and over again i totally would but they will never be the exact same so im not gonna try it. Just a thought but i think we should clone some T-rexs and put them on the island of Cuba or something and see what happens!
ReplyDeleteBRAXTON MILES<3:)LOL!!! HAHA IM BLOGGING OMG!
I don't think that we should bring back the mammoth because it became extinted for a reason, I mean the polar bears are decreasing in numbers because the ice is melting. and i do believe that mammoths are suppose to live in very cold enviorments.
ReplyDeleteI do not think that people should clone their pets because it just doesn't feel or sound right becasue who knows when cloning is just to much. I mean if we clone are pets does that mean it ok to clone a dead family member then too
Becky Lopez
No, they shouldn't because animals have gone extinct for a reason.
ReplyDeleteI think people should clone their pets if they want to. I would because if my pet died, I would want it back. Then I could just clone it. =]
-Rebekah Glass
Well truthfully its not imorrall to me if they clone their pets or if they clone this mammoth. i meen it would be cool to bring back the mammoths. and with the pets its their money so they can clone if they want to
ReplyDeleteMikel Cole
I say yes and no. Yes because it would be cool to see a mammoth and no because if it went extinct it shouldn't be here.
ReplyDeleteTyra
I think it would be ver cool to have those animals back on earth, but if it did go extinct, there was probablly a good reason. though I might say it depends on the animal, maybe having dinosaurs in a distinct location might be cool, but could potentially be dangerous. And if something we know and love such as the Orcha Whale was dying out, then we can and should help it.
ReplyDeleteNo i wouldn't have my pet cloned because it might look like my old pet but it would have a completely differtent personality, you might as well just get a new one and spare the emotinal side effects.
we should not clone pets or manmoths becuase it goes against the laws of nature, it is interfering with the circle of life. To take somthing that happens natural and do it artafically something as the creation of life is pure bad luck.

I agree with williams point to the fullest. it would be very cool to basically bring a spieceise back from the dead. But ofcourse there is always a plus and minus to everything. If the animals went exstinct there is definently a reason behind it in my opinion. Jurasic park is a perfect example of this, but i feel if they went extinct back then then it would be very easy to make them go extinct again. And maybe this could be an experiment for the scientists on this project. If bringing these animals back does good things for the enviorement that they are placed in than maybe we could do more but if not then it would be very wise if we leave them to there extinct roles in natural selection.
ReplyDeleteJake Whisler
it would be sweet to bring the mammoth back but what if it ends up just causing trouble in this environment. or to bring back another species someplace else and have it cause trouble in that place. i suppose its just best to leave it alone and not mess nature. Alex Thomas
ReplyDeleteI posted last Thursday but it didn't show...
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion we would be going against the natural order of life and we would defy nature in cloning animals that went extinct. We shouldn't bring animals back from extinction just for entertainment... they went extinct for a reason... also cloning animals isn't a great idea because not only does it mess with the minds of kids but it also would be wrong. The animal would be different from the original.
Mike Krause
I dont think that I myself have the scientific knowhow to make a conjecture to wether cloning is good or bad without being wrong. But I can voice my opinion and have it be just that, an opinion. I think cloning is a good thing. I think it is a very important branch of science and needs to be treated as such, but cloning should be taken very seriously. I dont think it should be used to bring your pets back to life. and in the case of the mammoths, I dont think we should bring them back. because everything happens for a reason and who are we to decide to introduce an extinct species?
ReplyDeleteEric Devall
go for it. just dont let it out and about raise it in captivity and dont let it breed or anything.
ReplyDeletechelsea hanson
fickel
ReplyDeletei think they should just leave them dead because they died for a reason and we shouldnt mess with that because they might go on a killing rage and they would be laughing at us
Personally I think it's ok to clone extinct animals but not your own pets.
ReplyDeleteFor cloning extinct animals we can learn what the mammoths are like, how they're different from elephants today.
Cloning in general I believe how everyone is concerned about the polar bears, how they're going extinct.
In my opinion I think we should just clone them so we can save money and won't have to worry about them going extinct.
Well first of all, I believe that maybe animals go extinct for a reason. If mother nature wanted them here, she would have stopped them from going extinct in the first place. But I also believe that by lettin an elphant be the mother of an extinct animal might be good for the scientists today, and also for the mamoths.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't clone my pets. Sure its a good idea for some people, but having the same pet over and overr again just wouldn't be right. Our pets die, and sure they were good pets, but you have to move on, and not make an exact replicia of them, because they might not have the same personality, so technically it wouldn't be the same pet anyways.

I'm not too sure; cloning is debatable for sure. There are good points on either end of the stick. On one end you could say that cloning is a brilliant way to bring your research to a whole new level; creating life from a fairy tale is almost what you do, if you are to clone an extinct animal. A radical idea, but yes, in the long run it might now work out so well.. Mother nature, yadda yadda.
ReplyDeleteBut then comes the arguement that mother nature hasn't rid us of the tools we use for this proceedure, so it must be okay. And all this WILL effect the future, and the chain of evolution, but possibly it should happen like that. It's destined to happen, right?
On the other end, you could say that it's absolutely wrong morally and otherwise- bringing your Great-gradmother back from her coffin is just not okay, watching her relive a life with a different soul. Little weird, or way past the line of w-r-o-n-g?
I, personally, would not clone my dog. Not because I don't agree with cloning, I just think that once she's passed, she's gone- and I'm glad she was here. But bringing a species back to life! Whoo-ee! That is something I would definately take part in.
Solely my opinion.

I believe that any animal that goes extinct should stay that way. They had their chance to live in this world and they didn't make it. We need to let things be and try and survive ourselves.
ReplyDeleteI myself would never have my pet cloned. I can uderstand wanting that same old pet that you've always had, but i just think that it is wrong. You're making seem like your pet will live forever and the kids will never experiance that their pets will die.
Joshua Luce
I think that the only animals that should be cloned are house pets like cats, dogs, some birds and thing like that. I dont think that the ones that were extinted should not be cloned because they are gone for a reason.
ReplyDelete-Krystle Hernandez
so i think that cloning ur pets can both be bad and good.when u clone something u think it will be the same way it was but it could actually be different. with cloning animals that are going dying off thats a trick one cuz not always is it a good thing to keep them here. there dying off for a reason
ReplyDeleteElizabeth Bacon
Having your pet cloned would be so weird. The obvious for it wouldnt behave the same, youd know that it wasnt that dog that had grown up with your family, youd always know it was a fake. Itd be really cool in some ways, maybe if your kids were very young and didnt know, but i dont know, it just seems really weird to clone animals.
ReplyDeleteCamden Long
I think they should just let extinct animals be. They died for a reason. They wouldn't be able to live in our world now, it's changed too much since the time of the Mammoths. For cloning pets and stuff I think it's kinda zombie status and hella weird. I wouldn't clone my goldfish. I'd close the toilet lid and let that be the end of it.
ReplyDeleteB. Gann.
i think that if something died it probably means that it does need to exist. but then i think that if it died because of an alien or something i think that it deserves to be clowned....
ReplyDeletelove alden
I think that if science allows mammoth's to be brought back from extinction, it should be done. It would be cool to see an animal come back from the dead in a way. The anount that are produced is a whole other issue.
ReplyDeleteIf i had the opportunity to clone my pet i most definately would. It would just be cool to have an exact copy of your previous pet.
In the end it's your choice only.
-Seth Reynolds
If an animal is extinct its for a reason. its the same reason humans reproduce but don't live forever. If we brought back to life something meant to be dead it could completely and unintentionally change the way we live and could seriously hurt our way of being. They're extinct and thats the way it should stay.
ReplyDeleteMegan Pittman

I think that we should bring back some of the extinct animals, maybe for exhibits in zoos, or to better understand how they lived. If they can be proven to help us improve our ecosystems, then I believe that we should bring them back.
ReplyDeleteI think cloning your pet over and over is cruel. They shouldn't play God, and people that do this are, in my opinion, a form of mentally ill.
-Matt Vanderpol
I definitely think that they should clone the frozen mammoth. In my opinion that would be really cool and we could find out more about the mammoths habits and things like that. When it dies, they could dissect it and see if there's something in it that we didn't know about before. I wish we could do the same with dinosaurs, that would be awesome!
ReplyDeleteI would not clone my pet if I had the chance to. Even though the cloned pet would look exactly the same as the old and dead one, it wouldn't have the same "soul" or personality. This would only make me miss the old pet more because I would get reminded of it every day while seeing the cloned pet. I guess for some people this could be a good and happy way of remembering the dead pet but it just wouldn't work for me. I do think that it is pretty amazing that you actually can clone an exact copy of a dead animal though.
- Ida Holmlund
every animal that went extinct, became that way because of the nature of our world. I think that bringing back animals from the past isn't such a good idea. On the other hand, cloning animals that aren't extinct, or people's pets, such as sheep or dogs, isn't that big of a deal because its not messing with the way mother nature worked things.
ReplyDeletePreston Jones
I personaly think that it is cool that we can clone. But I do not think that it is right for people to clone their child pet because then there child will never get the cycle of life wich I think that they need to learn.
ReplyDeleteHaiden Clavette
I think cloning should be used for medical purposes only. To clone your animal jsut because you miss them and how they were is ridiculous. Your pet may look the same cloned but it definitly won't have the same personality. To have the same personality it would have to go through the same events as its life before.
