We know very little about the ocean. We discover new things all of the time. Take 5 minutes and try to find a newer species of fish that you have never known about or is newer to the general public. In your post describe the fish and leave the site address where you found it. Do not copy someones address and use it as your own.

  1. This fish looks like it is walking on legs and has hands. It is red and white, almost looks like it has nostrils, it has really big lips.

  3. The Allen's Rainbow-fish range is in the Aiborei River, in northern west Papau. The country of the fish is Indonesia and it thrives in freshwater systems. It is found in rivers or streams where the substrate consists of gravel and rocks, and the water is cold, clear and fast-flowing.

  4. The rare flabby whalefish have tiny eyes and lack ribs. The 12.5-inch-long specimen above was caught 1.7 miles underwater—the deepest reaches NIWA's ever explored. Most scientific research and fishing has occurred above 0.7 mile.

  6. The animal i found that is a new found species is the Uroptychus Squat Lobster.
These deep-sea lobsters are almost exclusively found in association with deep-sea corals. In this case the animals were found attached to a bamboo coral.

    Four-Eyed Fish
Range: South America: Trinidad and Venezuela to the Amazon delta in Brazil
Notable: The "four-eyed fish" is actually a misnomer. It has only two eyes, but both are divided into aerial and aquatic parts. The two retinal regions of each eye, working in concert with two different curvatures of the eyeball above and below water to account for the difference in light refractivity for air and water, allow this amazing fish to see above and below the water surface simultaneously.

    http://kellydowney.hubpages.com/hub/TOP-TEN-CREEPIEST-FISH-IN-THE-WORLD

    The Snakehead Fish

Number six on the top ten creepiest fish list is this eco-nightmare! Snakehead fish have the unique ability to survive in and out of water for long periods of time! Native to China, Russia, and Korea the snakehead fish found their way to the United States. Several of these predators were found in a pond in Crofton, Maryland leading to major media coverage. Considered to be highly invasive, the snakehead fish immediately become top of the food chain in US Lakes and ponds, and are illegal to own.

After inhabiting a pond or lake, they eat every living creature in it. Without discrimination, a snakehead will eat everything from plankton and insects, to carp and mollusks. Once the food sources have been depleted, they jump out of the water and travel to new nearby bodies of water eating frogs, mice, rats, and small birds along the way! Most snakeheads grow to be 2 or 3 ft and weigh more than 15 pounds. Without natural predators in their new environment, these invaders can degrade ecosystems, drive native fish to extinction, and cost billions of dollars every year for eradication.

Scarier still, is the reproduction rate of snakehead fish. Reaching sexual maturity between the ages of 2 and 3, each female can release up to 15,000 eggs at once and can mate up to five times a year! In just two years, each spawning-age female can release up to 150,000 eggs. I hope they taste good!

  22. The barreleye fish has been a mystery for many many years. The researchers at the Monterey bay aquarium discovered the species of fish rumored to have tubular eye and a transparent head. It was first described in 1939, and marine biologists have since collected information. They have discovered that its eyes are great for collecting light but they are in a fixed position only allowing them to have what is called "tunnel vision." Their ability to collect light comes from tr adaptation of their pitch black environment. It is a deep sea fish living in the dark, eating creatures caught in the tentacles of jellyfish. Pretty interesting. Here's the web page. Http://www.mbari.org/news/news_releases/2009/barreleye/barreleye.html
